Pond Scum~The new Detox?

Green pond sludge drunk with a curly straw has to make it more interesting and tasty right?

I have over indulged this silly season, worse than ever before I'm sure. Sunday was my first alcohol free day since before Christmas, Christmas!
Along with the booze I've had a ridiculous amount of take out, party food, crazy dinners, big breakfasts and crap.
My waist line is suffering, my face is breaking out and I had to break the habit with something a little drastic, so this morning I had a strawberry chiobani yogurt and a green smoothie with added spirulina, I don't even know what that means but its obviously something good right?

What do you do to kick the binging habit? Liquid diet for a few days? Detox? Please tell me I need it!

I'm not dead!!!

I'm such a bad blogger. My poor blog has been ditched since December the 9th, That's not a month that's closer to two months. Heck. Since then we finished school, had Christmas, saw in the new year, my baby turned one and now its almost time to send my biggest two back to school.
Anyway this is what we've been up to, you know in a six week nutshell. That totally works right?

Girls Night Out requires big hair, red lips and semi drunk selfies.

The boys and I got into the Christmas spirit trying to be Rudolph.

We went overboard with Christmas, well Santa did. Next Christmas one present each. Maybe two.

Nanny Pants came for Christmas and my gorgeous sister and her man. I of course took no photos.
I'd like to point out my 7yr old who is almost as tall as Nan, whats that about.

I drank lots of these.

See that's me drinking it there, with him, in our own apartment for the night, with no kids. Yes we lived it up.

I just want one nice photo of the four of them. Just one. I'm going to pay someone else to do it.

Someone took to my kids head.

11 Months, poor baby doesn't even get his own post, but I did take the photos, that counts as something right?

I bribed him with biscuit. He looks so impressed.

So that's us, six weeks of school holidays have been so full on but so nice to sleep in, stay up late, not have to be anywhere at 9am, and not having to wake up anyone for 3pm pick ups. Amazing how good it's been. There's of course been lots of fights and I have been drinking almost everyday but I will miss them when it's back to me and the two littlest boys but geez my house will be cleaner and I may actually blog occasionally. Not making any promises though.

Happy Anniversary

On this day five years ago I was pregnant and cooking for 12 people for Christmas day. Today is strangely no different, except last time it was my wedding day. We got married on Christmas eve and our movie is Love Actually.
I never thought about it but we really are Christmas tragic's.
A lot has happened in the last five years, our big boy has gone from a toddler wearing nappies to a big school kid ready for grade 2, our middle boy was born and has showed us what our combined stubborn streak can produce, our Charlie surprised us and now he's 2 and were getting ready for #4 to arrive. We've moved more times than I care to remember and I know we've spent far to much money in the process. It sure hasn't been an easy five years, but this last year has been one of the best, were in the same place and we know each other so well after 7 years together, were in a good happy place.
When we got married I was 22, seems so crazy to me now that we got married 2 years after we'd got together, but we had Jack already and James was baking in my belly, it didn't seem rushing at the time, it just seemed good timing.

Our wedding day

Us five years later.

Happy Anniversary my love heart.

Food!

6502331007_afdb5b977a_z_large

This is the last Christmas were going to spend as a family of five, only three small people. Next year we'll have an almost one year old seems so bizarre considering he still isn't here yet.
A few of Michael's mates from work couldn't get home to their families for Christmas as their roster basically only leaves Christmas day and boxing day to travel there and back again, so were having them instead of them staying in their rooms at work, I couldn't think of anything more depressing on Christmas day than being stuck in your tiny room with nothing to do and no where to go. So far I'm catering for 11 including us. Thank heavens were off to the beach for most of the day, lots of swimming, drinking (by the big boys, not so much by me!) and eating. After reading Beth's Christmas menu this morning I thought I might share ours as well. We live in the same country but you'd never know it, Beth is cooking hot food in the cold weather, I'm trying to figure out how to keep everything cold while we swelter in the sunshine.

Breakfast
Were having a smallish breakfast of bacon and eggs on the BBQ and loads of fresh fruit, watermelon, strawberries, grapes, cherries and mango. Lots of mango.

Snacks
Cheese, biscuits, dips, deli meat, nuts and rum balls, have to have loads of rum balls.

Lunch
Honey and mustard baked ham, cold prawns with a mango and chili sauce, prawn and avocado rolls, cold roast chicken, tomato and bocchini salad, roasted Mediterranean vegetable salad,  garlic potato salad.

Dessert
Pavlova with lashings of  cream, passionfruit and strawberries, and a mars bar cheesecake.

So if you don't see me around for the next few days I'll be in the kitchen, that's a lot of food to get ready when you look at it like that!

Perspective

6337855085_434d8a3763_z_large

I have turned into a moody cranky pregnant lady. I admit it.
When I'm pregnant my patience is thin, my moodiness is high and my ability to be polite and tactful goes out the window. My poor husband says the thing he hates about me being pregnant is I'm too honest. So if you've had anything to do with me in the last 33 weeks you'd probably have noticed I've been complaining a lot about everything, well today I got a whack in the face, probably just what I needed really.
Michael's Aunt and Uncle will be spending Christmas without their eldest son who went missing a few weeks ago driving home in western Queensland and today Michael found out the body of his cousin had been found.
To make matters worse they lost their youngest son a few years ago. I can't imagine what it would be like to lose a child, it's just not the way it's meant to happen, not once and certainly not twice.
So today I read that extra story James asked me for at nap time and let Charlie have that extra piece of watermelon after lunch.
I really have nothing to complain about.

Ah Kismas!

I had a marathon present wrapping session on Christmas eve. Mostly because I insisted on wrapping everything like a crazy person. I made Michael put everything together then we wrapped it all, so much more fun on Christmas morning!
Christmas eve is our Wedding anniversary so you would think we would be celebrating in style with a romantic dinner, nope we had red rooster. Quiet night in just the two of us. Nope we wrapped presents til midnight. That's what happens when your anniversary is Christmas eve.

We may or may not have gone a little over the top with the presents. We have spoilt kids I admit it.

The boys love having their Nanny here. I don't mind it either.

Charlie got a frog baby. He loves to smooch and cuddle it. Cute!

Our little rock band, Charlie will be on vocals. Once he can sing.

We live in central Queensland so we expected it to be hot and hot so why not hire a slushie machine? Just because we were stuck inside and it was raining we still put a decent hole in it.

We had a drunken afternoon while the little boys slept and Jack played with his new mega box of Lego, followed by left overs for dinner and a Christmas movie. We still have some unopened presents. Next year just one Christmas lay by.

Christmas in a nutshell

Charlie and I having some giggle time on Christmas morning

The boys so excited to open their fun things from Santa

Jack's Lightening McQueen blow up game, yes the steering wheel plugs into the TV and there is car racing games, spoilt much??

James got a mini Wii type thing(V-Motion V-Tech thingy) but this was so much more interesting!

Grandad and Dad trying out the boys new tennis on a stick

The boys hanging out with "the pretty girl" at Aunty Alice's, can you tell she's an artist?

We had a very quiet day, the boys were spoilt rotten as usual, we had cold meat and salad for lunch, my mother in law and I had nanna naps, there is nothing better in my opinion!

It was Michael's first year with no booze in almost 15 years, very strange for him. His Mum and Dad bought him a art set and thats how he spent his Christmas afternoon, and now I have his artwork hanging on my wall, I'm very happy with that!

We are still opening presents from Christmas, nanny's presents only arrived yesterday, the boys have so much stuff I don't even know where to begin!
It was a good day but it was nice to be home and we are looking forward to having Christmas at home next year.
I hope everyone had a good day!

Santa time!

Well its not actually Santa its one of the other ladies husbands, but its all the same to kids!
We had such a fun time at the christmas party, Michael got to ride the train a few times with the kids, he was the adult that sat at the back to keep an eye on the kids, poor thing had no hat and it was 11am can you imagine how hot he was??

I got him a frozen drink, he was still boiling!

The boys don't often get to do stuff with Dad it always happens on days that Michael is at work, so this was a great day for them.

I dont know how they managed to stay on the train for as long as they did, I got sunburnt sitting in the shade of a tree, it was so hot!

James getting his gift from 'Santa'. they were more interested in their Kinder Suprises!

James has his towel still on from swimming, so much fun!
