Birthday boy!

My James on his birthday. Four seems so grown up compared to three, he seems to be growing far to quickly, he told me he has a girlfriend at Kindy. I was shocked for a minute until when I asked him he couldn't remember her name. Nice one James.
James is all about dinosaur's at the moment and on Sunday were having his dinosaur party. I found a dinosaur shaped cookie cutter before Christmas and I will be putting it to good use this weekend, and I think I may run out of green food dye, my talented friend is taking photos of his party so I'll have some awesome photos to share with you all, once I've seen them, obviously.

Part of James birthday present, his new dino lamp to go with his dino doona cover and dino wall sticker. Yes I admit it I went over the top.

I love this picture of him he looks so sweet with his gappy teeth. He was so excited about this book, I'm so pleased he has finally got the book bug, we lay in his bed at nap time and I read him books before he has a sleep, it's our little special time just the two of us. I love it. I hope four is a good year for all of us.

MY place and yours

This is what I'd like to be reading this week, I've started the first chapter more than once but every time I do I fall asleep, maybe I should start going to bed earlier.

This is what I'm really reading lately. James new birthday book, and Charlie's favorite book for this week, how many times do you think you can point at a ball or a train? More times than you can imagine.

Play over at Hello Owl

Just the two of us

This is how Charlie and I are spending our days home alone, when were not dancing or reading books were taking silly photos of ourselves. Charlie is defiantly going to be like James when it comes to dress ups, he loves putting silly things on himself like his PJ pants on his head or my princess Fiona ears.

Now if you excuse me I have to go read another six books before nap time.

How old are you ??

Thats right he's four!
Proper birthday post later.

P.S. Don't tell my mum I bought him his own jumping castle for his birthday. She would kill me. Thanks.

New Recipe Saturday

When Michael and I made our 20 to do in 2011 one I really wanted to do was new recipe Saturday. Now its February and I'm just getting my bum into gear, slack I know.

This is technically Fridays recipe because Saturday were shopping all day, so there. A few weeks ago I made the mistake of introducing my husband to chorizo and now he's obsessed, so I was a very good wife and I made him lunch, chorizo sausage with asparagus garlic basil and spaghetti. Bad idea but was oh so tasty.

What you need:
2 chorizo sausages
1 bunch of asparagus
Garlic cloves to taste, (I used 3 cloves but were garlic people)
Spaghetti or pasta of your own choosing.
fresh basil
lemon juice

Pop your spaghetti in a pot of boiling water cook as per packet instructions.
Pan fry chorizo until the oil seeps out of the sausage and colours the pan, at this point add garlic and cook but be careful you don't burn it. Slice asparagus and chuck in with sausage and garlic until warmed through and a little soft, drain pasta and add to pan rip up basil and toss through with a good squeeze of lemon. If your a porker like us add a dash of cream.

If you'd like to share with me your new recipe leave me a comment with a link to your blog, I'd love to see some other peoples recipes!

V Day

Being the wife of a miner means we often celebrate special occasions before or after the actual date. Jacks first birthday, Christmas, anniversary's, valentines day you get the picture. This year is no different with Michael working and not getting home til 7pm we decided we'd put valentines day off til Wednesday when he'll be home.
That's all well and good, but I think we'll celebrate today anyway. Why not?!

This isn't a new recipe so I wont add it to new recipe Saturday (which will start this week, stay tuned!) but I'll share with you and the lovely Rhi from hummingbirds song.

Wrapped Chicken with honey mustard sauce.

2 chicken breasts
small quarter wheel of Camembert
2 middle rashers of bacon
2tbsps honey
2 tbsps wholegrain mustard
1 1/2 cup cream

Pan fry chicken breasts til golden, but not cooked through. Slit the chicken breast to make a pocket, fill pocket with slices of Camembert, wrap with middle rashers of bacon, secure with skewer if needed (don't forget its there when you've cooked it!) Bake in oven for 25 mins at 180 or until chicken is cooked. While chicken is cooking add cream mustard and honey to a pan until cream reduces. Pour cream sauce over chicken serve with roast potato's and steamed greens. Delicious!

Browned Chicken boob

Stuffed with cheese and wrapped in bacon.

Finished product, mmmm...

Park love

On Saturday the boys and I went to the park I knew it was going to be a long boring weekend with no plans and Michael working. We didn't last long as it was steamy already but for an hour or so I snapped away at them and they wore themselves out enough to have a decent afternoon nap, gotta be happy with that!

Charlie's newest photo face which is usually accompanied by 'aaahhhhh'

My big boy who seems to get bigger so quick, we discovered this week silent letters in words like 'Know' I think he's scaring his teacher already!

I see you cutie pie!

My meat head child. Seriously he talks like a footballer and walks like one. This face is accompanied by 'oww woooww'

My hairy middle baby. Do you think three is too early to start plucking his eye brows? What about waxing his amazing back hair?

Big Night

This was my Saturday night. I think it's time for a busy weekend which does not involve dinner at 5.30pm so were done in time for the family movie.
As much as I love these three just the way they are, a quiet weekend with no Daddy around is slowly sending me something something...

Polly Dolly

valentines day

The week of valentines day, I just love it (no pun intended). Theres always sappy movies on TV and a good reason to love each other just a little bit more. As it falls on a Monday this year we certainly won't be doing anything over the top, it is a school night after all. I'm planning on going to the hairdressers and getting my hair washed and straightened, just because. I will be wearing a dress like I do every day but will make sure I shave my legs and paint my toenails. We will put the boys to bed and watch our anniversary movie, Michael will make me a cup of tea and I will definatly have to dunk some tim tams. A few sprits of Michaels favorite perfume, and a little lip gloss and who knows what could happen!

To play the most time consumng and addictive game ever head over to Danimezza xx

Stripe time! my place and yours

Stripey hand soap dispenser. Lives in the kitchen. We used to have one in the bathroom but 'someone' broke it.

Favorite lounge cushion.

Wall canvas in the big boys room.

Stripey t-shirts, one of the joys of having boys lots of stripes. This is just from one draw.

Charlie's new sleeping style, head under his pillow with his stripey shorties on.

Are you playing along at Hello Owl? If your not you should be.

Oops! I almost forgot!

So I may or may not have jumped the gun, did you notice the new design and layout?
Yes?
Well I guess its pretty hard to miss, isn't it?
The lovely Melissa from Suger Coat It spent her hard earned weekend chained to her computer making my blog new and pretty. I'm sorry Melissa hubby, I promise it wont happen again, not anytime soon anyway.
So...

School Time!

So I started this post on Sunday night then I got taken over by a tummy bug. James explained it the best ' mum are you spewing out of your bum?' Oh brother. So I spent Sunday night wrapped around the toilet trying to keep a sip of water down, Monday I spent curled up in a ball trying not to use my stomach muscles.
Where does the week go? I had great plans to do this post on Friday, yep Friday. Its also February I'm not dealing so well with how quick this year is going!
Anyway for the last two weeks I've been down two kids, Jack is back to school (grade 1, which means I'm a big kid now mum) and James started Kindy this year. Charlie and I have been having lots of quality time and I love it. Although I try to make at least 5 minutes a day one on one time with all my boys (Michael included) 5 hours 5 days a fortnight is a bit better.

My big boy so sweet but so cunning all at the same time. Thinks he has perfected the art of blaming things on his brother. Pity I know when he's lying to me : )
Second week of school and he's student of the week and has reached the level of 'three star superstar' which means he's a teachers pet and knows exactly what to do to get his teachers attention when he's doing the right thing. He's so much like me at this age it scares me.

Aww butter wouldn't melt... hardly! First day of Kindy he wanted me to brush his hair, he looks so dorky but thankfully we got all three of them hair cuts the same day. He is loving Kindy, by 2pm when I pick him up he looks exausted. I really missed him the last week, I've never had so much time away from him. He told me he'd been naughty at sleep time and his teachers confirmed he'd been a bit of a handful. I feel sorry for his school teachers who have had Jack first, they won't know whats hit them!

My three monkeys. Can't believe how quickly they've grown up. Charlie is heading towards two faster than I can fathom, James is one step away from big school and Jack is taking school and stepping over it.
My mother thinks its time for another baby. I think she's dreaming.
