My insurance does not cover PMS!

I drive a Tarago.
It has 4 cylinders and 8 seats. It has 'awesome' graphics.
Its not a fast machine but it's practical for us for now.

When my small people leave home I will buy a ridiculous car, then put the grand kids in it. (Am I jumping the gun a little?)
Anyway after almost three years in a sleepy mining town moving back to a busy place has been fabulous, but the traffic bugs me.
The Tarago has a back bumper which Michael tells me is for trolleys in car parks and so people can't reverse into it. How you could reverse and not see my tank is beyond me, but anyway.
Shopping after school is always a busy time but when I am trying to reverse out of a car spot with a 4WD next to me blocking my view of all on coming traffic and you have to swerve on to the opposite side of the carpark to get around me it would probably be easier to just stop and let me reverse, yes?
Today after about 8 people did this I had a flash of Kat from 10 Things I Hate About You, when she reverses in to the jerk behind her. I remembered we had the back bumper and for a second I was tempted to pull out in front of everyone and be on my merry way.

Pregnancy is covered by insurance isn't it?

31 Photo's in 31 Days~Day 29

I think that was the last time I will paint my own toe nails until this boy is earth side. My 22 week bump is just too big to paint toe nails comfortably or with any skill, time to find a new beautician and get myself a pedicure!

31 Photo's in 31 Days~Day 28

It was a rainy miserable kind of day here today, I banished the children from the TV and instead we baked, played marbles and pulled out the old favorite the wooden food. Seriously the best $40 I've ever spent.

new recipe saturday & Day 27

This is what we had for lunch, yes I admit it looks like a big pile of mess but it was quite tasty.

Baked Bean and cheese scrolls
Ingredients
2 sheets of puff pastry
200gms of baked beans (I think I used to much which is why mine exploded)
handful of grated cheese

Method
Spoon baked beans all over the pastry leaving an inch gap at one end. Sprinkle cheese over the baked beans, roll pastry length ways towards the end with a gap, seal the pastry with a little milk. Once rolled up cut into inch slices tip on the side and bake until golden around 150 Celsius.
There is many recipes around for this but I was not making my own pastry just for lunch. Puff pastry works great and there are heaps of other things you can add to them but for a simple lunch these were perfect.

(Note: my small people don't always eat lunch without a shirt, but they had been playing outside in the rain)

You know it's good when your children are quiet and eating. I even convinced my fussy eater (Jack) to try them and he said delicious. Gotta be happy with that!

31 Photo's in 31 Days~Day 26

A few nights ago my lovely hubby spent a few hours putting together my new bookshelf. I passed him glue and screws but really it was all down to him. I love that there is space for more things and best of all no more boxes in my living area!

31 Photo's in 31 Days~Day 25

I took the small people to the park this afternoon. Jack is now cricket obsessed and after his coaching lesson on Tuesday he got his own bat and ball. We spent an hour 'playing' cricket at the beach. Love these kinds of afternoons. Charlie kept finding flowers for me to smell. Cutie Pie.

Lots of Boxes. Box Lots!

I wanted to post this a few weeks ago. Unfortunately I assumed I wouldn't want to take any photos food shopping. How wrong I was.
Michael heard an ad on the radio about this place that sold damaged cans, and things that were heading towards their use by date, we decided to check it out. I wasn't expecting much I have to admit, but we are still new in town and really it can't hurt to check out everything we can.

Because my photography skills are shocking I cut half the words what it actually says is:

We are a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to providing real jobs for disadvantaged or disabled job seekers.

At Box Lots we provide a grocery clearance warehouse environment to the community, offering genuine savings on family food bills.

All proceeds from this store support our main goal of providing these jobs and further training.
Box Lots needs your support to continue our business as we do not receive funding from any Local, State or Federal Government Agency.

From the website

Much of our stock (but not all) is sourced as end of line, close to date, cancelled orders, bankrupt stock, damaged packaging etc.

Looks a bit like Aldi but defiantly a warehouse. I was expecting an Aldi kind of register as well, where they scan and you put it in the trolley. But not only do they pack your groceries into boxes for you including wrapping your cold/frozen things in newspaper. They take them to your car and put them in, and then take your trolley back to the shop for you. We've been twice and the second time they remembered us, and what car was ours. That's what I call a good shopping experience.
We've bought a few damaged cans but there really isn't a lot of them there. Most of their stuff is perfect just seriously cheap (40 cents for a can of tomato's, $35 for 12 kilos of brand name washing powder)
Admittedly we still had to go to the fruit shop and the butchers but its defiantly still worth it.

The first time we went was before I flew to Brisbane, before we knew if our little boy was healthy or if he would be classed as disadvantaged/disabled. I cried all the way home, knowing there was somewhere that was helping out people by giving them jobs not just a hand out. Not knowing then if we would be trying to find somewhere like that in years to come.
For us it was good news, but that's not the case for everyone, I'd rather give my money to these people than the two supermarket giants any day.

My Place and Yours

Every Monday I'll post a new theme for you to rack your brain with, take some photos then blog about it, when your done come back and add your link down the bottom so we can all have a sticky beak. Sounds good right?

Show me your fridge? Is it side by side? Is it upside down? Is it coloured? Is there a story behind it? Do you love it or hate it?

I know we've done this one before. But we have moved since then and our fridge looks different here. Good enough reason to play again right?

31 Photo's in 31 Days~Day 21

My cutie pie and I this afternoon spent an hour playing matchbox cars while the big boys were snoozing.
I love the funny games he plays with them pilling them on top of each other proclaiming 'uh-oh' as he tips them over, and when they've had enough you must shhh because obviously they are asleep.

new recipe saturday & Day 20

It feels like forever since I did New Recipe Saturday. But today I'm back. When I'm sick I want comfort food. Today this was it. Jack decided half way through me cooking he couldn't stay awake any longer and went back to bed. He is still the sickest out of everyone.

Ingredients
4 Large potatoes
200gms Bacon
A good handful of Cheese, grated
2 tablespoons of Sour cream

Method
Give your potatoes a wash them bake for 1hr or until you can pierce them with a fork.
Cut a lid off the potato and scoop out most of the centre leaving a few centimeters around the edge. Mash the potato and add your bacon (I used around 200 gms but add to taste) sour cream and cheese mix together then pop back in the oven til its hot and the cheese is melted.
Eat hot or cold. *Guaranteed to make you want an afternoon nap.

*I cant back that up, it may just be because I'm pregnant and sick that I wanted to nap.

My little man rocking the one gumboot look.
He's a special boy this one.

31 Photo's in 31 Days~Day 16

Is there anything better when you are sick than orange juice and lemonade? My small people seem to be going down hill as quickly as Michael did.  Poor things, were having a few days off school and getting very acquainted with the lounge room.

31 Photo's in 31 Days~Day 15

Ok I'm completly cheating today. This photo was taken last night. Thank heavens we bought Michael's birthday forward a few days because he woke up this morning sick. Achy sick. Fever sick. Poor thing. Thank heavens we had an awesome day yesterday instead. I don't think he's going to kick this before his birthday.

My Place and Yours

Every Monday I'll post a new theme for you to rack your brain with, take some photos then blog about it, when your done come back and add your link down the bottom so we can all have a sticky beak. Sounds good right?

This week I'd like to see what you can see from your bathroom window.

This is actually the view from the kids bathroom but our view is almost the same. We live in a new estate so there is a lot of building going on. We were hoping next door would stay vacant a little longer. No such luck, this morning we woke up to the noise of a bob cat. Hopefully they will be done by the time this baby is born!

31 Photo's in 31 Days~Day 14

Today my darling hubby got to open all this birthday presents a few days early. Jack couldn't keep quiet and started spilling the beans so I gave in and brought his day forward. This is before the presents were opened, after looked like Christmas morning!
In case you can't see them all their is 30 presents there. Yep he was completely spoilt but you know what he is turning 30, that's a big enough birthday to deserve a whole stack of gifts as far as I'm concerned.

31 Photo's in 31 Days~Day 13

My small people enjoy a quiet Saturday night with a movie. Funny they look almost the same as this. We live in a different house but they are still the same kids : )

My Charlie. Who is mastering the art of eating porridge on his own. Who is also driving his mother crazy with porridge covering everything including his hair. We will get there. Soon hopefully.

31 Photo's in 31 Days~Day 11

James at the park this morning. This kid cracks me up. Although he drives me crazy I am really going to miss him next year when he's at school. We've been doing a special activity every day, something to try to prepare him for the next 13 years of schooling. Today I introduced him to the joy of domino's and a marble maze. By the time he actually goes to school he will have tried everything, well hopefully anyway!

31 Photo's in 31 Days~Day 10

Yesterday James and I finally put together his cotton on kids dinosaur. He got it for his birthday from his beautiful Aunty Isha. When we found out we might be moving we decided to keep it in the box til we had settled in and I am so glad we did. It is way bigger than I was expecting and I'm sure we would have ended up with broken bits. James is deciding what colour he wants to paint it, if he wants to at all.  I like the natural wood, but I think it would look cool in a wicked green colour.

Pink or Blue? Drum roll Please!

So for those of you who haven't heard. I'm sure there isn't many of you left.
On Monday I had the scary task of leaving my boys and flying to Brisbane to have a scary ultrasound to further confirm the presence of downs or rule it out. Thankfully the sonographer could see I was a bit of a nervous wreck and didn't muck around, every time she typed something she told me what it was and what that meant, and what part of the body she was looking for. All looked as it should be, the soft markers for downs that were there at 13 weeks were gone and all other issues that could have been there weren't. Everything looks as perfect as can be. Seriously is there anything better to hear?

So after what felt like an age she asked the big question 'do you want to know the sex?' Hell yes I wanted to know...

I have to admit I breathed a sigh of relief when she told me. I didn't think I really had a preference this time but I was so pleased when she said it was another boy. A healthy boy at that, who is a little chunky but nothing to worry about, that's nothing unusual in our family.
So by the end of January 2012 I will be the mumma to four boys. I am seriously excited about that, strangely enough.
I know my house will never be magazine pretty, and I know for at least the next 20 years I wont drive a normal car, and I will at one point have four smelly teenage boys with hormones raging. But I think our boys are seriously lucky they will have three ready made playmates that will be with them for life.

Every Monday (Ok Tuesday this week ; )I'll post a new theme for you to rack your brain with, take some photos then blog about it, when your done come back and add your link down the bottom so we can all have a sticky beak. Sounds good right?

I really enjoyed playing along with this theme when Dani still had MPAY, so I'm pulling it out again.

I am in the market for more tea towels, and I have my eye on these, they are seriously fun.

So show me your tea towels!

31 Photo's in 31 Days~Day 5

I found this beautiful chair at the beach this morning, I tried to get a beautiful picture of the boys sitting on it, but no luck. I couldn't go past it though I wanted a photo of it.

31 Photo's in 31 Days~Day 4

I managed to snap a few photos of my two baby boys this morning while they were happily watching playschool, oblivious to me sitting next to them.
I love how they like to snuggle together. I hope they stay best friends forever.

31 Photo's in 31 Days~Day 3

This is my paper mache balloon on the clothesline.
I had great plans to take photos of James paper mache-ing his balloon but I got far to rapt up in it and ended up doing my own instead. By the weekend they will be paper mache pigs. It was seriously fun doing it and although James doesn't have a great attention span he enjoyed it once I told him he's meant to get covered in the sloop flour, water glue. I am striving to get him as ready for big school next year as is humanly possible. Showing him how to paper mache is defiantly up there on my to do list.

31 Photo's in 31 Days~Day 2

Check out these beauties. I found them packed in a box. I bought them in 2007. I don't think I've worn them since 2007. I am a bad unpacker.

31 Photo's in 31 Days~Day 1

I loved this project last year. It's simple take a photo everyday and post it on your blog, twitter, facebook, flikr wherever you want really. Add your link to the Sh1ft.org and your done. Sounds easy but my goodness I fell off the wagon so many times last year!
So this year I hope to stay on the wagon and I'm starting with what we had for lunch today. Exciting I know but hey it's a cute picture! I made sausage rolls for my baby boys and my hunny who insists meat be eaten at least three times a day (how he has any arteries left I don't know)

So are you joining in? Head over to Sh1ft.org for details.

My Place and Yours

So this week I want you to show me: What do you have that's Orange?

Michael and I dream of having a Mexican inspired house full of colour. For now we will settle for Mexican inspired pots.
